North Georgia Focus of Protest

Spotlight on my home state: Tiny Cleveland, GA, 77 miles north of Atlanta, is the latest protest site for the Topeka, KS-based Westboro Baptist Church that preaches God Hates Fags. The Church has criticized high school students who are organizing a local chapter of PRIDE (Peers Rising In Diverse Education). Rather than launch a counter-protest, students will seek donations the entire time that WBC members protest outside the high school.

According to the Gainesville Times: "The Baptist establishment has distanced itself from Phelps and Westboro, and several watchdog organizations that monitor the white supremacist movement have labeled Westboro a hate group."
