Cunningham Resigns

Friday July 15, 2005
Eight-term Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-CA) announced yesterday that he will not run for re-election in 2006. He cited the ongoing investigation (23 June statement) into his relationship with defense contractor Mitchell Wade, founder of MZM Inc. After reading a prepared statement, he did not answer questions from the media. Last month, the San Diego Union-Tribune "revealed that Wade bought Cunningham's Del Mar-area home in 2003 and sold it at a $700,000 loss nearly a year later. When in Washington, D.C., Cunningham lived aboard Wade's yacht." [His web site does not list his committee assignments or yesterday's statement.] News from Google.
