DeLay's PAC Flunks Audit

Tuesday August 16, 2005
The Austin (TX) American Statesman reports that a Federal Election Commission audit found that Americans for a Republican Majority - Rep. Tom DeLay's "premier" political action committee, "used more unregulated 'soft' money than was allowed for fund-raising and get-out-the-vote activities" in the 2002 election. (Just three years in the making.) This is not unlike the behavior being investigated by Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle; Texans for a Republican Majority, another DeLay committee, has seen three officials "indicted, including Jim Ellis, who also serves as ARMPAC's executive director."
