President Approval Hits All-Time Low

Wednesday August 31, 2005
presidential approval rating august 05 For the first time in his Presidency, Bush disapproval ratings exceed approvals by more than the margin of error of the survey. In answer to the question:
Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president?
only 45 percent said "approve" and 53 percent said "disapprove." The margin of error is +/-3.

On the war in Iraq, Americans remain disapproving (57% to 42%). The last time a majority of those surveyed approved of how the President was handling the war in Iraq was almost two years ago: January 2004. On the economy, slightly more approved in August (44%) than in June (40%), but the variance is within the margin of error. Analysis based on trend data (same questions, same pollster).
