Bush Takes Responsiblity for Faulty Pre-War Intelligence

Wednesday December 14, 2005
In his fourth speech before Iraqi elections, President Bush again said he would initiate a war with Iraq because "Saddam was a threat and the American people, and the world is better off because he is no longer in power."

In the speech at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC, he also conceded that much of the pre-war intelligence used to justify the war was wrong. "As president I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq. And I'm also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities. And we're doing just that."
