Digital Divide Affecting Student Success: A report from University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) suggests that having a home computer increases the odds that a student will graduate from high school; however, blacks and latinos are much less likely to have a computer in the home than whites. The study appears to confirm the value of take-home programs (many more wealthy schools districts now provide students with laptops). This digital divide persists even when factors such as income and parental education are included as factors.
