GAO: Defense Spends Billions on PR, Corporate Welfare
Tuesday February 14, 2006
A GAO study released Monday reports that the Bush Administration has spent $1.6 billion on public relations and advertising; $1.1 billion was for Defense Department advertising. Another GAO report documents Pentagon waste of as much as $100 billion, according to MSNBC. Hearings begin Tuesday on the report's conclusion "that $8 billion in 'incentive fees' given to defense companies over the past three-and-a-half years were largely a waste of taxpayer dollars." Winslow Wheeler details specifics of the 2006 defense budget.
