Men Arrested For Alabama Church Arson Spree

Wednesday March 8, 2006
Two college students have been arrested and charged with torching nine Baptist churches in Alabama last month, according to AP; a press conference is set for Wednesday afternoon. FOX identified the men as Ben Mosely (19) and Russell Debusk; they have been charged with conspiracy and individual counts of arson.

The men may be charged with hate crimes under the Church Arson Prevention Act, a 1996 law. Another church was burned during the same period, but AP reports it is not connected with these nine. A third college student, Matthew Lee Cloyd (20) is being sought in connection with the case, according to CNN.

Why hasn’t the press identified the Alabama arsonists as gay. This would lead to determining that thisreally was a hate crime.
