Congress is on Easter recess and left town without completing an immigration bill. No real surprise here. Read two different views: Conservative Politics guide Amy Hess and Immigration guides Jennifer and Peter Wipf. Also, tighter borders could mean more smuggling.
Potpourri: cellphones and cancer (not an urban legend) ... per capita spending on education ... US ignores Human Rights Council ... first steps for Hamas.
It may be spring on the calendar, but it's wet and cold(ish) in Seattle! Not the time for gas prices to soar -- premium is just under $3.00 a gallon in the suburbs here. The rise is attributed not to anything that actually happened, but to uncertainty. AAA says prices tend to go up this time of year, without explaining why. (They go up in the fall, ostensibily because of the demand for heating oil ... but winter's over ... and summer driving isn't here yet ... so why the Spring bump?)
