The Supreme Court turned attention to the death penalty Wednesday: specifically, the use of lethal injections. The Florida case involves the use of a combination of chemicals that critics claim can cause "excruciating pain." This combination is often prohibited for pet euthenasia.

The House and Senate negotiators remain deadlocked on a bill designed to improve the finances of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. The Senate version would require "companies with poor credit ratings pay more into their pension plans." GM protests that its pension fund is overfunded by $6 billion. However, the single-employer pension system is "underfunded by an estimated $450 billion." The Senate version also provides relief for airlines.

And Karl Rove, who was officially stripped of his White House policy duties last week, testified before the Valerie Plame grand jury for the fifth time.
