Seven In Florida Arrested, "No Immediate Threat"

Friday June 23, 2006
The FBI and Florida state law enforcement have arrested seven men in Miami and charged them with plotting to blow up the Sears Tower and the FBI Building in Miami, but the US Attorney's Office told the Miami Herald that the "individuals arrested posed no immediate threat to our community" and that they had no "overt explosives or other things."

According to the Miami Herald, an anonymous source said that five are US citizens, one is a legal US resident, and one is an illegal alien. The Chicago Tirbune reports that they are Muslim, and FOX says that the illegal alien is from Haiti.

Completed in 1973, the Sears Tower, at 110 floors, is the nation's tallest building and the third tallest in the world.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is scheduled to be release details at a press conference Friday.
