Senate Calls Weekend Session On Iraq

House Vote Results

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has called a special session of the Senate to vote on the House resolution opposing troop build-up in Iraq. The last high profile special weekend session was called by the former leader Bill Frist (R-TN) over the Terry Schiavo case; only three Senators were present but the House took a full vote.

Like then, today the Senate is following the lead of the House. Unlike then, the minority party has filibustered the vote. In fact, Saturday's vote will not be on an Iraq Resolution, but will be a procedural vote: a vote to allow a vote. Will the filibuster remain ... or be broken?

Editor & Publisher says 61% of us oppose the troop surge and 56% want a "quick pullout."
