Former Vice President Al Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, won best documentary at the 79th Academy Awards. Environmental Guide Larry West has the details.

Although Gore says this isn't a political issue but a moral one -- it's politics that will (or won't) provide impetus for widespread behavioral change. Thus, this popular spotlight on climate change means it's time to catch up on some of the good reporting on the topic:

  • Not For The Faint Of Heart, 24 May 2005
According to US journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, half of Europe's plant life is at risk from global warming during the lifetimes of today's children. This article also links to an excellent three-part series in the New Yorker.
  • Big Business, Meet Global Warming, 14 September 2005
The global insurance industry publishes a report, Financial Risks of Climate Change.
  • The Truth About Global Warming, 11 Oct 2005
This five-part series (main story, four sidebars) from the Seattle Times is an in-depth look at the issue, featuring at least one scientist skeptic turncoat.
  • Business Ads On Global Warming: Disinformation, 25 May 2006
An analysis of the Science articles referenced in a series of ads on global warming shows that they misrepresent the research that purports to support their claims.
