And as part of the surge the President announced earlier this year, 12,000 National Guard troops are also returning to Iraq; "most of the soldiers have already spent 18 months away from their civilian jobs and their families."
On Monday in Najaf, "one of Iraq's holiest cities," thousands peacefully protested continued US presence in the country.

I don’t want anyone calling the “shots” alone anymore, when their policies have gotten us tied down in an open ended commitment… billions have been squandered to private contractors, and for “peet sakes” they can’t even keep track of their emails.
