Rove and Hastert: GOP Abuzz

Tuesday August 14, 2007
The buzz in mainstream media and the blogspace today is about Karl Rove's departure from the White House (here, here, here, here, here) at the end of the month, and former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert's (R-IL) upcoming announcement that he is not running for re-election in 2008.

Foreign press are also weighing in on Rove's surprise departure. See the Financial Times (James Carville).

What do you think of Rove's departure ... and Hastert's announcement coming on his heels?

It comes as no surprise Ms Gill would use the incoherent ramblings of one of the looniest of the left, Mr. Carville. His article demonstrates without a doubt how disjointed his thinking has become.

Mr. Rove was not the president. If the Republicans have lost voters the fault lies squarely with GW Bush and his war in Iraq. This is so obvious to even the novice political junkie. Republicans own this war and it’s consequences.

I guess Ms. Gill and Carville wanted to take one more cheap parting shot at one of Bush’s most influential advisors. Too bad Rove couldn’t convince Bush that invading Iraq was a bad idea.

Chuck, I did not “use” anyone’s comments. I linked to various commentary, inclulding a direct link to one conservative columnist and an indirect link to another.

This is the first I’ve heard that Rove thought Iraq was a bad idea.

So, you’re saying you didn’t use Carville’s article to further your argument? This is definitely NOT the “no spin zone”. You’re making me dizzy.

Re: Rove and iraq bad idea?? Again, you make these huge leaps? Where did you hear this? In your own mind for sure.

Chuck, I pointed out that the Financial Times — a conservative European analog to the WSJ — had also weighed in on the announcement by publishing an op-ed by James Carville.

It was not the only link I had but it was the only foreign press link.

You are the person who wrote this – not me:

Too bad Rove couldn’t convince Bush that invading Iraq was a bad idea.

You use typical liberal diversion tactics to avoid answering questions. Sometimes I think somone took your brains and put them in a blender because I have no idea what you are talking about now?

The bottom line is, you used Carville’s comments to support your assertions and now you’re tap dancing because you know he’s a fruitcake.

I’d just like to see this about.com blog renamed to: about my(Kathy Gill) liberal blog or perhaps you could start presenting objective opinions instead of lefty extremist opinions. I won’t be holding my breath.

One suggestion: the next time you feel inspired to write vitriol (aka flames, flamebait, personal attakcs, ad hominems), look in the mirror.

Rove was brilliantly agressive, but without a sympathetic, moral bone in his body. Hastert is probably so frustrated with no longer being on top and in control of a winning team, and watching the Party and the Pres. fail in focus that he sees no chance of being on top again in the near future.
