I really hope Al Gore runs, I think he would be the most qualified and best of the Democratic candidates! I also think he’s learned a lot from his 2000 candidacy and would run a better campaign.

If there is one candidate who would make a difference and not be swayed (readily) by the establishment, it would Gore. Any of the other Democratic hopefuls seem more or less like Republican-light. Gore would be more likely than any of the others to get things done. And the world is at such an hour that Gore’s reform-mindedness is a requirement for having a future.

I think that Hilary Clinton would make a fine president. Not just because she is a woman; but the ideas, actions and plans she has for America. She pretty much the opposite of Bush… and i LOVE that.

The Republican party has the best shot by far of retaining the presidency.

I think Barack should win. I mean though the mans sense of national security is slightly laid back, I think he would otherwise run the country like Clinton did, and maybe stop us from the impending depression we arent far from falling into. I think the best bet would be to have Obama win, and have Hilary, or even Gore as VP.

If we go by qualifications, Clinton leads the pack…that being said experience is overrated. Obama has as much experience as the nit wit in there now and is certainly smarter.
McCain sold his soul for a shot at the White House and is loathed by the conservatives
Giuliani is too “liberal” for conservatives
Romney is too mormon for conservatives.
Gingrich is way to slimy and “cheaty” for moderate voters

Ron Paul should be included for a couple of reasons. (1) All candidate listed are big government types that would expand the size of the Federal Government. Ron Paul would reduce the size of the government, especially at the Federal level even if not at the state and local level. This gives your voters a truly different choice. (2) Ron Paul would certainly gather more votes than Newt Gingrich, another Republican who is listed.
At LINK there is another poll with 20 candidates and Ron Paul as of about four hours ago had 7 percent of the vote and I see since that time there has been another 4,000 votes and still Ron Paul has about 7 percent of the votes. Now all internet polls are going to have different people voting so the percentages will vary widely. Nevertheless, their top three Obama, Clinton, and Giuliani are your top three indicating that Ron Paul would do well on your poll with at least 3 percent of the vote.

The only candidate I find acceptable running on the Republican ticket is Ron Paul. The rest have proven themselves unworthy crooks. He’s the only candidate that has consistently voted for what the Republican party has promised for the last 27 years. The Republican party has become a joke because it refuses to minimize the size of government, refuses to lower spending, refuses to secure liberty, and has consistently failed to uphold the Constitution. I heard an interview with New Mexico governor Bill Richardson and was deeply impressed with his plans for various issues including the Iraq war and immigration. Richardson has broad experience and is far more electable than either Clinton or Obama. There are too many people in the US who are simply not ready to vote for either a woman or an African-American (I’m NOT one of those people), and we desperately need a Democrat president. The main problem is that almost nobody knows Richardson is running! I hope that changes soon.

As soon as I heard that he was considering a run, my interest in this presidential race rose exponentially. Mr. Thompson is genuine, intelligent, strong and principled. A Gore - D: Who specifically did not invent the internet.
02 Other-D: So the above five are the best the Democrats have to offer.R Paul - R: Anyone declaring the Iraq War illegitimate is a liar. While one may contend that the foundation for which we went to war are limited in their bases, the war itself was duly authorized and is therefore legitimate. The reasons to win the war rather than acting as a nation of cowards is even more legitimate.
Other-R: And the person not mentioned outpaces the closest competitor by 7 points here. He is equal, without comapaigning, to the second and third places on the Democratic side. We will have to see how much more he gets when he announces.
M Romney - R: An unknown whose Ozzy and Harriet presentation cannot connect with the experience of a largely faithless people, while his comments appear aggressive against the weak and poor in society. In addition he holds schools responsible for failing students who do not meet expectations. How dare they do their job truthfully.
J McCain - R: An intelligent observer who will be subject to the misinformation fed to the public by those profiteers who use negative sensationalism to sell news. His position would have a better chance if the News were honest and exposed the truth about our enemies. - larry says:

When will people realize the global warming scare is a money making ploy presented by the people that have already invested in alternative energy companies. They stand to make billions! Check out who is invested and you will see. When gasoline was selling for over three dollars a gallon a gas station in Louisville, KY was trying to sell E85 but couldn’t sell it because it was higher than gasoline and people were not buying it. Once we switch over to Ethanol, it will cost much more to fill your tank than it ever has with gasoline.It will not help the small farmer. The small farms are disapearing everyday. I am a social conservative, and Bible-believing Christian, I cannot vote for most democrats, because of their positions on social issues. I believe in separation of church and state. However, our country was founded with solid, strong Christian values. There are too many liberal, activists judges, who seek to take God out of everything. I think that it would be good for all Christians in their own communities to have a good discussion about this. As a Christian, we simply cannot ignore the moral issues that define our faith, and elect officials that would cause our religious freedom to be taken away.

Bill Richardson is the best person for the job. He is not worried about saying what you want to hear, he is more concerned with the TRUTH. That’s a concept few others running are familiar with. He was able to obtain the release of several American citizens from some of the worst situations. Don’t forget, he was able to make Saddam and Kim Jong Il back down, and he secured the release of an American journalist from Somilia. He is focused on alternative energy sources, and he is not in the back pocket of every corporation out there. Do some thoughtful research of your own, don’t just take the garbage that the media is spewing about the supposed best cantidates, remember this is the same group that kept Anna Nicole as the top sotry for WAY too long.

Please people! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!! Let me say this again…Research ALL the candidates thoroughly before you make THE choice for whom you will vote. You get only one vote. This election year may very well be one of the most important in the short history of our great nation (sigh…haven’t I heard this before?).
We are going to have some major issues to deal with like….military action in Iraq (no, Congress did not declare war and there is no end in sight), the deficit, health care, exorbitant government spending, middle east peace process, illegal immigration, Patriot Act, individual liberties, job outsourcing, trade deficit, etc., etc., etc.
Therefore, I cannot afford to vote for a liar (YES, ommitting information and half-truths constitutes lying), a flip-flopper, a warmonger (those candidates that voted for/supported military action in Iraq and won’t end it and/or encourage military action against Iran), a panderer to special interest groups, those beholden to foreign governments, or any combination of the above. There, I just ruled out almost all of the candidates!
I cringe when I hear some of the reasons why people like certain candidate(s) or potential candidate(s). Not to pick on Fred Thompson (I will anyways), but he wasn’t exactly a ball of fire when he served in Congress (check his Congressional record). After leaving Congress, Thompson lobbied Congress on behalf of several clients that many would deem unsavory and Thompson makes no bones about it (do your homework). He wants to continue military action in Iraq and supports military action against Iran. Some people I speak with think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they can’t articulate a reasonable argument as to why that is so (maybe they think he is for the aforementioned reasons-I don’t). My point is that one should dig a little deeper and not blindly accept assumptions such as he is ‘presidential looking’, ‘talks tough’, ‘means business’ or is a Hollywood actor.
This election should not be about party lines as both parties are failing the American public. Few of us will find a candidate with whom we will agree with more than eighty percent of the time. The candidate we vote for needs to be educated, ethical, experienced, honest, consistent, forthright, and prepared to deal with the many serious issues facing our nation.
If you still haven’t figured out which candidate I will vote for, you haven’t done your homework….:) I will, however, give you a hint….My candidate is kicking everyone’s butts in the online polling;)
P.S. Make sure your voter registration and driver’s license are up to date and that your current home address and personal data are correctly reflected on both. Your vote could be challenged and thrown out if your voter registration information doesn’t match your driver’s license (or the documents you present when you vote). If you are not registered to vote, be wary of organizations offering to register you. Sometimes they are dirty tricks campaigns to make sure you don’t vote (yes, its illegal and it happens). You are safer going to your local voter registration office and registering yourself.

I really like Ron Paul. He has a consistant voting record against the Iraq war, but voted to go after the 911 terrorist (bin Laden). He has consistantly voted with the Constitution and for individual liberties, wants to rid the government of interventionist foreign policy, and institute good monetary policy. I’m voting for Dennis Kucinich–so are most of my friends and family. Is there a legitimate reason he isn’t listed here? How difficult would it be to simply add all of the candidates?
Dennis won the AFL-CIO debate and the Human Rights LOGO debate, without question. He also won the ABC Iowa Debate (as far as the online polls suggested BEFORE ABC deleted them and before ABC cropped Dennis’ face out of the main picture).
PLease do your part to save democracy. Include Dennis.

Darn,I sure get tired of seeing these polls wherein the ? are trying to tell us what choices we are allowed to consider for the presidential candidacy.Even though Kucinich has placed high(and apparently won some) in many polls as to who won a particular debate,I keep finding polls such as this one that seem to feel that they have the wisdom and prescience to decide who is worthy of our consideration.

He recognized what President Bush was trying to pull in his war for oil at the very beginning and voted against it. He is an environmentalist and has been all along, not after prople started jumping on the global warming band wagon. Democrats of all stripes should admit an unpleasant truth: the Democrats have put some weak candidates on the national stage.
What’s odd is that the party so often puts up a weak candidate in the name of “electability.” What was so “electable” about John Kerry? Turns out not much. His voting record is a bit spotty, but truth be told he had only a few shameful votes. In the end the Republicans attacked his record on military appropriations, and rather than offering unequivocal language he gave us the infamous “I voted for it before I voted against it.” We lost 2004 when we nominated Kerry.
If the party gives Hillary Clinton the nomination, how will she defend her record? Why aren’t “mainstream” Democrats challenging the disconnect between her rhetoric and her service record—now, in the primary season, when we’re supposed to discover our own candidates? Where is this elusive “electability” of the frontrunner candidates? They all fall seriously short on the major issues people care about: Iraq, health care, labor rights, civil rights.
Money silences dissent.
A Rassmussen Report from late July claimed that “[a]lmost 40% of all voters, including 40% of Democrats, don’t know Congressman Kucinich well enough to have an opinion of him.” These same people often dismiss Kucinich as “unelectable,” despite knowing little or nothing about him.
Obviously many voters accept the cynical if accurate notion that money wins elections. Let’s be honest, money indeed wins a lot of elections. Most of them, it turns out. People usually choose their candidates like they’re picking out a pair of shoes they’ve never even worn. This is the reality of our political context.
But here’s where cynical notions of “electability” fall short: the big money candidates of our two-party system can only ever count on the straight-party ticket votes, like mine. My vote and votes just like it on both sides of the isle will only ever ensure that the default results of any general election come in at about 50/50 D and R. That’s what the primary wins for any candidate with the D or R brand: about a 50/50 split unless you do something really stupid (and often if you do). What happens beyond the default position depends entirely on the candidate.
And frequently Democrats put up candidates even Democrats have a hard time getting excited about. We put up candidates who sell out labor as readily as any Republican, who are as beholden to corporate money as any lobbyist, who won’t even stop the escalation of the Iraq occupation, much less end it. We elect Democrats whose actions on immigration and on the phony “war on drugs” make felons out of would-be Democratic voters. Our Democratic Party doesn’t need many enemies. It’s doing a splendid job of sabotaging itself and alienating its own base. In the name of “electability.” This is insane.
Did you catch Kucinich at the AFL-CIO debate? Who were those ordinary American workers whose raucous cheers gave Kucinich the clear victory that day? Those were cheers from labor, the traditional base of the Democratic Party.
Take just another minute to reflect on the previous paragraph. The “unelectable” Kucinich won the debate, hands down, before the traditional base of the Democratic Party, the working class and middle class people whose labor generates the profits that accrue to the capital that finances the big money, “electable” Democrats who gut worker rights and privatize our communities at every turn.
The traditional Democratic base isn’t stupid. They haven’t been driven away from the polls because they are lazy or apathetic. They are painfully aware of the huge disconnect between Democratic Party rhetoric and the official behavior of many Democrats. They don’t appreciate being lied to, and maybe they have grudging reasons to go to the polls just to vote against some Republican. Maybe they don’t. The traditional Democratic base doesn’t always turn up at the polls. They need more than transparent rhetoric. They require a real candidate who actually represents their interests.
And they love Kucinich.
That means we who support Kucinich, if we take our work seriously, have two huge tasks before us. We have to educate that 40 percent of the voter base about our guy, and we have to try and convince the Democratic Party that it’s on the same losing course again unless it backs the only candidate who inspires and motivates the Democratic base.
That’s us, and if we want to pull off the statistically unlikely task of handing our guy the nomination, we can’t sit on our thumbs and lament his unfair treatment by the media and the shills who take every opportunity to discourage us. We certainly cannot wish our guy would compromise his principles (our principles) and take some corporate money. We actually have to stay motivated and determined to deliver much more than our single vote for Kucinich. We have to answer “you can’t do it” with “you can’t stop us.” We have to back it up with action. We have to talk to each other and coordinate our efforts, give each other ideas, and encourage each other.
We have to behave like a community that deserves a Kucinich presidency.

I really hope that this poll is not an indication of how about.com plans to coverage the election. I find your site generally informative, but to leave out Dennis Kucinich and Dodd is a major dis-service to your readership. How can you have a poll with any meaning at all if you do not present all the options? You left out many GOP options too. Even Newsweek thinks huckabee is worthy of an article this past week- certainly he should be in your poll. It is early enough in the campaign to make your site more comprehensive than other sites and media institutions. I look forward to better coverage in the future.

Where’s Dennis Kucinich? Once again, ignored in a poll he could easily win. The interesting thing is that not many people know about him, because his campaign is run on public donations, but in a blind poll based on users answers on the issues, Dennis Kucinich won %58 of the vote, with other candidates coming in around 2-5%. Educate yourself on the issues, AND where your candidate stands on them. You’ll end up voting KUCINICH!
