Former Qwest CEO Joseph P. Nacchio, who has been convicted of insider trading, "said the NSA approached Qwest more than six months before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks ... [suggesting] that the Bush administration was seeking to enlist telecommunications firms in programs without court oversight before the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon." This is only a confirmation of what most people knew already: the Bush administration never really cared about citizens constitutional rights. Just like it never cared about international treaties and conventions. Just like it never cared about good old common sense either… And they were reelected.
No wonder Americans usually get a bad name abroad. You know what is the first thing an American usually tells when meeting new people in Europe? “I am American, but you know, I am not supporting everything my country does…” Pathetic.
