A Look At The Bailout Vote

Thursday October 9, 2008
The Senate voted 74-25-1 to endorse the Wall Street bailout. I decided to look at the 25 (15 Republicans), to see how many are up for re-election this year. Here's the tally:

Of the 34 Senators running for re-election, only 10 voted "no" on the bailout. Another way to look at the data, of the 25 Senators who voted no, only 10 (not even half) are running for re-election. However, seven of that 10 are Republican, suggesting that they might be more sensitive to the re-election factor than the Democrats.
