Who Funds The Presidential Transition?

President-election Obama continued his demonization of lobbyists last week when his transition team declared that federal lobbyists cannot contribute financially to the transition. The implication is that lobbyists fund the transition.

But guess what? Congress decided in 1963 that the public should fund the transition. Of course, that hasn't stopped any campaign -- including this one -- from spending more than budgeted (via private donations, limited to $5,000 per person or organization).
