Vote: Straw Poll For 2008 Presidential Race

Thursday December 13, 2007

As we are now 10+ months from the election and less than a month to the first state primary ... I have created two polls: one Democratic, one Republican.

Pick who you'd like to see running for President in 2008. I wish there were a way to make sure people can only vote once, but our software doesn't have that capability.

Yes, I know that everyone who's running or who may be running isn't on the list. That's why there's an "other" option!

Use the comment field to talk about your choice or argue for why your candidate should be on the list. Please read the comments before writing about the unfairness of your candidate not being listed!

Election central for US Politics; for US Liberals.

December Update
Huckabee added. Republican results, Version 1

September Update
Polls broken out by parties; Kucinich added.
Results, Version 4

June Update
For the Democrats, I've added Bill Richardson and removed Al Gore. No changes in Republicans.
Results, Version 3

April Update
By popular request, I've added Fred Thompson, an undeclared Republican candidate. He joins undeclared Al Gore. Both men have active "draft" grassroots efforts.
Results, Version 2

March Update
Ron Paul was added by popular demand.
Results, Version 1

Note: I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into this early conversation (January 2007) about next the 2008 election. I detest the ever-more-drawn-out campaign season for President.

(1) Jason says:

I really hope Al Gore runs, I think he would be the most qualified and best of the Democratic candidates! I also think he’s learned a lot from his 2000 candidacy and would run a better campaign.

January 19, 2007 at 8:13 pm
(2) Ali Farajulusmi says:

If there is one candidate who would make a difference and not be swayed (readily) by the establishment, it would Gore. Any of the other Democratic hopefuls seem more or less like Republican-light. Gore would be more likely than any of the others to get things done. And the world is at such an hour that Gore’s reform-mindedness is a requirement for having a future.

January 21, 2007 at 3:22 am
(3) Jason says:

I would like to see Mitt Romney take the Presidency in 2008. He has a history of taking problems and fixing them, which is what I think we need for Iraq.

January 21, 2007 at 8:30 am
(4) Dian says:

We would be in big trouble if we had Hillary as our president–big mistake

January 21, 2007 at 3:47 pm
(5) Bill says:

John McCain has been there and won’t be eager to bring us to a senseless war…

Al Gore has the experience, and is paying attention to issues others are not…..

January 22, 2007 at 2:04 pm
(6) Danny Boy says:

Hillary- a wanna-be eurosocialist

Obama- popular among youth and affirmative action types, but no understanding of economics or national security

McCain- traitor to the American public for his support of the McCain/Feingold law against free speech. Too old.

Guilliani- classic RINO, favors big government and abortion. Too old.

Algore- peddler of junk science

Romney- A man of vision, values, and vigor with a track record of fixing problems others thought impossible.

The choice is obvious.

(7) Kcarvalho808 says:

I think that Hilary Clinton would make a fine president. Not just because she is a woman; but the ideas, actions and plans she has for America. She pretty much the opposite of Bush… and i LOVE that.

Go Hilary!

January 27, 2007 at 11:46 pm
(8) Water Tiger says:

Go Hillary Clinton! I have paid close attention to what the Candidates have to said and what they intend to do once president and Hillary has got the right focus and prior experience. And as an added bonus Bill will be with her as well. They make a great Team. Obama has some great ideas, but needs more seasoning. My hope is Hillary for Pres and Obama for VP. ;-)

February 1, 2007 at 12:28 pm
(9) chris allen says:

The Republican party has the best shot by far of retaining the presidency.
Too many people hate the Clinton name and not enough people know Barack Obama. If the G.O.P. nominated McCain or Guiliani, they wouldn’t lose. Quite frankly, the Presidential election will be decided when the Republicans announce their candidate

February 1, 2007 at 1:23 pm
(10) uspolitics says:

Chris, that’s an interesting perspective. Why do youthink Guiliani - another New Yorker - is a slam dunk? Have you seen recent data on likeability of the Clinton name? Clinton the Prez had very high approval ratings at the end of his term.

February 6, 2007 at 9:41 am
(11) Rain says:

I think Barack should win. I mean though the mans sense of national security is slightly laid back, I think he would otherwise run the country like Clinton did, and maybe stop us from the impending depression we arent far from falling into. I think the best bet would be to have Obama win, and have Hilary, or even Gore as VP.

February 8, 2007 at 9:11 pm
(12) vega says:

If we go by qualifications, Clinton leads the pack…that being said experience is overrated. Obama has as much experience as the nit wit in there now and is certainly smarter.
McCain sold his soul for a shot at the White House and is loathed by the conservatives
Giuliani is too “liberal” for conservatives
Romney is too mormon for conservatives.
Gingrich is way to slimy and “cheaty” for moderate voters
Republicans are in for a tough time in 08 unless they can stop parroting Limbaugh and the administration and grow a pair

February 14, 2007 at 12:41 am
(13) Travis Pahl says:

Where is Ron Paul on this list? He is the only anti war republican running, and also the strongest anti war candidate across the board.

February 14, 2007 at 2:12 am
(14) uspolitics says:

Hi, Travis — I’m sorry, I couldn’t put everyone on the poll (not enough fields in the tool!). Ron Paul is an interesting “republican” who is more libertarian, imo.

February 20, 2007 at 6:52 pm
(15) john smith says:

where is Ron Paul on this poll hes the only canidate to vote for.

February 20, 2007 at 8:51 pm
(16) uspolitics says:

Hi, John:
You are the second person to ask about Ron Paul … would you classify him as Republican or Libertarian?

February 24, 2007 at 9:57 am
(17) kevin says:

I dont see Ron Paul he the only person I will vote for and I voted Democratic for 6 year but for him I will vote Republican,

February 24, 2007 at 6:12 pm
(18) Carl Deen says:

Ron Paul should be included for a couple of reasons. (1) All candidate listed are big government types that would expand the size of the Federal Government. Ron Paul would reduce the size of the government, especially at the Federal level even if not at the state and local level. This gives your voters a truly different choice. (2) Ron Paul would certainly gather more votes than Newt Gingrich, another Republican who is listed.

At LINK there is another poll with 20 candidates and Ron Paul as of about four hours ago had 7 percent of the vote and I see since that time there has been another 4,000 votes and still Ron Paul has about 7 percent of the votes. Now all internet polls are going to have different people voting so the percentages will vary widely. Nevertheless, their top three Obama, Clinton, and Giuliani are your top three indicating that Ron Paul would do well on your poll with at least 3 percent of the vote.

February 25, 2007 at 5:16 pm
(19) Ted says:

Ron Paul is the only candidate with the honesty, integrity, strict Constitutional principles, and qualified experience to save this Nation from the amoral anarchy it has disintegrated into through politics as usual. I respectfully request that you include Rep. Paul in your poll.

February 28, 2007 at 5:50 am
(20) JD Hil says:

The only candidate I find acceptable running on the Republican ticket is Ron Paul. The rest have proven themselves unworthy crooks. He’s the only candidate that has consistently voted for what the Republican party has promised for the last 27 years. The Republican party has become a joke because it refuses to minimize the size of government, refuses to lower spending, refuses to secure liberty, and has consistently failed to uphold the Constitution. And before you assume I’m a liberal, I am certainly not. The Democrats are just as deplorable as the Republicans. I stand on my values and the ideals of the founding fathers and I vote my conscience. I am not swayed by fear, for no terrorists can ever rob me of as much as my government has. And my conscience KNOWS that “voting the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.”

February 28, 2007 at 1:03 pm
(21) Vjklander says:

Please add Congressman Ron Paul as a candidate for President.

March 1, 2007 at 1:25 pm
(22) Ty Schor says:

Where is Ron Paul, I know your leaving him off on purpose, but you know, when he wins and heads begin to roll, we will remember you! Why don’t you get courage and say the real reasons all of you media outlets try to ignore him? Don’t bother, we know!

March 1, 2007 at 6:08 pm
(23) Southern Guy says:

Congressmen Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo are two good candidates. I really like Dr. Paul’s views on limited government and taxation. We need to get rid of the big government Republicans that control the Executive Branch and the House of Representatives.

March 1, 2007 at 8:38 pm
(24) uspolitics says:

Per request, Rep. Paul has been added to the straw poll!

March 9, 2007 at 11:13 am
(25) Eddie says:

Al Gore? Are you kidding? This guy is the biggest hypocrite of the bunch! Just from looking his last run should tell you he has screws loose. Let him win an oscar–but presidency, check your brains at the door!

March 9, 2007 at 11:24 am
(26) Eddie says:

JD HIl said “no terrorists can ever rob me of as much as my government has”–Wow, you are a nut. I think the government needs major reform too, but before you go letting out your suppressed emotions, keep in mind that if you really believe that you should go live with the terrorits; and as you get your head slowly sawed off by a blunt knife after you have been tortured by them, I think you might rethink that statement. Jeez.

March 18, 2007 at 6:45 pm
(27) Flo says:

Happy to see Ron Paul beginning to show up on polls since he announced just recently.

March 18, 2007 at 9:16 pm
(28) Robert says:

I’d like to see more of Ron Paul in the news. We need to show more support for him.

March 20, 2007 at 2:15 pm
(29) uspolitics says:

Ron Paul is doing well in this poll!

March 20, 2007 at 2:27 pm
(30) jen says:

Hillary Clinton for president is the only sure way of getting this country back on track. You will see, Hillary is without a doubt the only answer for our ailing country. She will help to restore the American Dream! Our beautiful United States of America is hurting. Help to restore these great United States of America. No one is perfect. If we’re looking for perfection on earth, we are in trouble, perfection is found in heaven. How about it people, do the right thing and put aside the blame game, put aside holding past grievences and vote for the healing of our Country. Vote for Hillary R Clinton. By the way, this is not a paid political announcement!

March 22, 2007 at 6:07 pm
(31) Joan Litton says:

Fred Thompson is the people’s choice candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential campaign. If you want a president that will not be bullied and stands for true conservatives, Mr. Thompson is your guy. He takes a strong stand on the issues, and he’s a great commuicator. Some call him a moderate conservative, and I believe that he can bridge the political gap to bring our country together. If you want to know more about him and , please come join our growing grassroots effort at

Thank You

March 22, 2007 at 6:43 pm
(32) Bill says:

Fred Thompson needs to run!!!

March 22, 2007 at 6:45 pm
(33) J J TERRY says:

I’m shocked at this point that anyone would remotely consider Hillary Clinton.

The vicious way her campaign is attacking Sen. Obama smackss of racism.

March 22, 2007 at 7:18 pm
(34) JJB says:

I also would like to see Fred Thompson’s name added to the poll. True, he has not announced but neither has Gore and he is on the list.

It is been a very, very long time since I have been excited about any candidate or even politics in general, but the more I learn about Mr. Thompson, the more I like him and am excited about the possibility of his candidacy.

March 22, 2007 at 8:39 pm
(35) JMH says:

Add another wanting Fred Thompson. He is Americas best hope. No strike that. He’s our only hope.

I voted “other-R”. That “other” is Fred Thompson!

March 22, 2007 at 9:56 pm
(37) kerrhome says:

My Other-R is for Fred Thompson. He is an articulate and intelligent conservative. Very much like President Reagan, one of the best presidents in our country’s history.

March 23, 2007 at 7:43 am
(38) BGM41 says:

I likewise voted for the Other-R, because I hope for the possible candidacy of Fred Thompson. His charisma captured my imagination. After 18 years of Clintons and Bushes bring back some common sense.

March 23, 2007 at 8:12 am
(39) Winghunter says:

After 100+ hours of researching there is only one possible choice. A strict constructionist as our founding fathers started…Fred Thompson will make us proud, informed, united.
Run Fred Run!

March 23, 2007 at 8:29 am
(40) Echo0 says:

I heard an interview with New Mexico governor Bill Richardson and was deeply impressed with his plans for various issues including the Iraq war and immigration. Richardson has broad experience and is far more electable than either Clinton or Obama. There are too many people in the US who are simply not ready to vote for either a woman or an African-American (I’m NOT one of those people), and we desperately need a Democrat president. The main problem is that almost nobody knows Richardson is running! I hope that changes soon.

March 23, 2007 at 9:06 am
(41) Phil Massey says:

I voted Other-R. Fred Thompson should be on this poll. He’ll bring some common sense back to the presidency that’s been missing for almost 20 years.

(42) RankinBranch says:

I am waiting on Fred Thompson to declare.

Fred Thompson is the man for the job… I am praying, praying, praying that he will indeed decide to run. As soon as I heard that he was considering a run, my interest in this presidential race rose exponentially. Mr. Thompson is genuine, intelligent, strong and principled. He is right on the issues and isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and tell the public where he stands on the issues. What a breath of fresh air.

Please list Fred Thompson in Your Presidential poll.

March 25, 2007 at 11:56 am
(57) Jaqaliah says:

B Obama - D: A serious candidate creating a serious issue. His position on the Iraq War leaves incredible concern that he does not understand the nature of our enemy and will be fully incapable of protecting our national interests. Further, there remains that unfortunate sector of our nation that will not support him because of what he is.
H Clinton - D: http://www.wealth4freedom.com/truth/13/RonBrown2.htm. I’m sure she is innocent.
R Giuliani - R: The other Democrat…
J Edwards - D: One cannot oppose poverty and genocide and oppose the vote to war against Iraq. Iraq’s poverty did not come from the trade restrictions palced upon Iraq. They came from the unwillingness of the elite in Iraq to take care of their people.
A Gore - D: Who specifically did not invent the internet.
02 Other-D: So the above five are the best the Democrats have to offer.

R Paul - R: Anyone declaring the Iraq War illegitimate is a liar. While one may contend that the foundation for which we went to war are limited in their bases, the war itself was duly authorized and is therefore legitimate. The reasons to win the war rather than acting as a nation of cowards is even more legitimate.
Other-R: And the person not mentioned outpaces the closest competitor by 7 points here. He is equal, without comapaigning, to the second and third places on the Democratic side. We will have to see how much more he gets when he announces.
M Romney - R: An unknown whose Ozzy and Harriet presentation cannot connect with the experience of a largely faithless people, while his comments appear aggressive against the weak and poor in society. In addition he holds schools responsible for failing students who do not meet expectations. How dare they do their job truthfully.
J McCain - R: An intelligent observer who will be subject to the misinformation fed to the public by those profiteers who use negative sensationalism to sell news. His position would have a better chance if the News were honest and exposed the truth about our enemies.

March 26, 2007 at 7:04 pm
(63) MUD ROY says:

When will people realize the global warming scare is a money making ploy presented by the people that have already invested in alternative energy companies. They stand to make billions! Check out who is invested and you will see. When gasoline was selling for over three dollars a gallon a gas station in Louisville, KY was trying to sell E85 but couldn’t sell it because it was higher than gasoline and people were not buying it. Once we switch over to Ethanol, it will cost much more to fill your tank than it ever has with gasoline. It will not help the small farmer. The small farms are disapearing everyday. That’s what farm aid is all about. ADM and the big conglamerates will be the only ones that make out.Wake up America! Don’t by into the hipe.

John Edwards, in my opinion, is the only logical candidate for president. I am a Christian democrat. Are you independantly wealthy? Then why do you vote republican? Can someone answer that question for me? Thank you! Yep, John Edwards is the man.

April 4, 2007 at 11:02 am
(80) Joan says:

I am a social conservative, and Bible-believing Christian, I cannot vote for most democrats, because of their positions on social issues. I believe in separation of church and state. However, our country was founded with solid, strong Christian values. There are too many liberal, activists judges, who seek to take God out of everything. I think that it would be good for all Christians in their own communities to have a good discussion about this. As a Christian, we simply cannot ignore the moral issues that define our faith, and elect officials that would cause our religious freedom to be taken away.

April 4, 2007 at 8:35 pm
(81) CelticKnight says:

Fred Thompson. He has grit. His voting record is dead on…no tap dancing for the sake of what’s in vogue. He has character. He has integrity (again, no “wishy washy” stances). He has a commanding presence. He has an air of authority that cannot be ignored. Once he announces…Rudi, Billary & the rest might as well go home. They don’t hold a candle to this man. Hillary has lost her mind. Obama…hmm, I dunno’…just get funny vibes from that guy. Rudi is NOT a (moral) conservative. I like J.C. Watts, Duncan Hunter, Tancredo, Newt…but they need to indorse FDT. I do believe he could really make a good president. To my fellow patriots,…this is for you; “Statesmen…may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand”—-John Adams

April 5, 2007 at 10:51 am
(82) Sarah Sawyer says:

Thank you for remembering to add the
name of our next president: Fred
Dalton Thompson, the Good Senator
from Tennessee–the only “Good Sense” unannounced candidate on your list.
Now, this may hurt some of you pollsters
who have your hopes on Clinton, but I
predict, and not fecetiously either,
that Clinton-Gore will unite, form
the Democratic Presidential ticket and
as a result will be substantially defeated at the polls in 2008. Why? First, because of their major supporters: First, the hate-mongering, spiteful, venom-spewing Hollywoodites; Second, the outspoken TV talk show hosts that have even more audacity but less political clout than their crass Hollywood counterparts;
Third, the mainstream TV and Print
media who are about as politically “balanced” as a peg-legged pirate; And last, the “tell me what
to think and then tell me how to vote” citizens who follow the lead of the loud, obnoxious, TV and “movie star” spewers and spinners,
accepting what they say at face value
without bothering to investigate their
statements. As I recall, King Solomon listened to both women before he judged so that when he did judge, he could be sure that he was making the right decision. That is precisely what we voters should do. We should not vote until we know what both candidates on both tickets–Democrat and Republican– stand for, and why. Then, being well informed, we should vote our conscience, for our conscience will
guide us to elect the right person
who will lead this country in the right
way, ack to right thinking and right
living.
That is why I say unequivocably,
Fred Dalton Thompson will be the next
president of the United States of America.
next president of the United States of America!
president.

(83) Pete says:

I like Ron Pauls constitutional stand. If more of our leaders were to weigh their decisions by the Constitution the choice would be harder.
Fred Thompson is an interesting candidate but Pauls record puts him on top for me.
Together they would be great.

April 5, 2007 at 2:17 pm
(84) Pastor Dan says:

To Julie (#79): I vote Republican because that is far more likely to make each of us independently wealthy, not just your ambulance chaser. I am morally opposed to the forcible redistribution of wealth so often purposed by those who support hypocrisy of this magnitude. If you want to help me out of my poverty pit because of the goodness of your heart, I commend you. However, if you and your chad-pickers want to deduct from my paychecks to pay for killing unborn across the country, you’ll have a major fight on your hands.

Welcome to the party.

Bill Richardson is the best person for the job. He is not worried about saying what you want to hear, he is more concerned with the TRUTH. That’s a concept few others running are familiar with. He was able to obtain the release of several American citizens from some of the worst situations. Don’t forget, he was able to make Saddam and Kim Jong Il back down, and he secured the release of an American journalist from Somilia. He is focused on alternative energy sources, and he is not in the back pocket of every corporation out there. Do some thoughtful research of your own, don’t just take the garbage that the media is spewing about the supposed best cantidates, remember this is the same group that kept Anna Nicole as the top sotry for WAY too long.

To Julie (#79):
Christian Democrat is an oxymoron.

Redistribution of wealth is immoral because government assumes the role of the individual by telling us what to give, to whom we should give and for whatever cause.

Salvation is not found in wealth-self acquired, inherited, or handed out from the State.
Class struggle is a sin against the 10th commandment.

The Democratic party platform supports abortion. Abortion is morally repugnant.

Suggestion: Find a new party or find a new religion.

Romney- A man of questionable character, who will say anything to fool voters. Just another slick politician that doesn’t deserve to be Pres.

F.Thompson-Fake, that has to lie everyday for his living as an actor. No doubt an expert at performing a role. Weak senate record. Conservative? Says Who?

For all you dear souls that elect any of these listed above, you can wake up Feb. of ‘09 and truthfully sing the song: Meet the new boss, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS !!! Big Gov’t Politicians.

Facing $9,000,000,000,000 in deficits and collapse at any moment, we need a fiscal conservative that has studied our constitution and applies it on all issues, like everyone is supposed to do. (If they had applied their oaths, we wouldn’t be in this mess.) Remember, when it falls, none of you will be getting your checks then! We need a man that is more intelligent than the pack named above. A man who can cure our nation’s ills.

I’m always a little dismayed by the prevalence of the “We need a great leader to make us great again” sentiment. Our legacy of “greatness,” such as it is, was built by free people, in free markets, unhampered (or at least to a much lesser degree) by government regulation, subsidy and taxation. We are rapidly squandering our inheritance and few seem to realize why.
We are great when allowed to achieve our goals as individuals, not when we are forced to subsidize favored industries and a global military empire. The message to politicians should be “Get out of our business and let us be great again,” not “Please, oh great wise one, tax the Hell out of that other guy and make us a mighty nation.” Empires fall. Always. Intervention and force fail. Always. Free, resourceful self-reliant people survive. Always.

I left the Republican Party a few years ago because I realize the Libertarian viewpoint is more my way of thinking and I also believe it is more inline with the philosophy of our founding fathers. But, thanks to Ron Paul I will be changing back to the Republican Party and voting for him in the Primary Election. Our country is in a huge mess finantially. Our apparent prosperity is not based on real production but going deeper and deeper into debt and hoodwinking the world to believe our paper dollar is as good as gold. Ron Paul has the vision and foresight to see a major calamity looming in the future and to stand up and do something about it for the sake of the average American. He is a man who is one of us and cares about We the People. He is offering us some tough medicine, but he makes complete logical sense and I am ready to do my part to support him as president and is prescription for health and prosperity. He will be painted as a radical, but if people listen to him they will come to see that big government and massive debts and inflation are what is truly radical.

All answers are prepared for typical questions.

No candidate should be able to buy the Election. I think Hillary Clinton should express her already received $500,000,000 at this time. As the election proceeds each candidate will receive “questionable” support. This occurred in the last election. I’m a Democrat. I believe in validity.

(129) Rob says:

Please people! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!! Let me say this again…Research ALL the candidates thoroughly before you make THE choice for whom you will vote. You get only one vote. This election year may very well be one of the most important in the short history of our great nation (sigh…haven’t I heard this before?).

We are going to have some major issues to deal with like….military action in Iraq (no, Congress did not declare war and there is no end in sight), the deficit, health care, exorbitant government spending, middle east peace process, illegal immigration, Patriot Act, individual liberties, job outsourcing, trade deficit, etc., etc., etc.

Therefore, I cannot afford to vote for a liar (YES, ommitting information and half-truths constitutes lying), a flip-flopper, a warmonger (those candidates that voted for/supported military action in Iraq and won’t end it and/or encourage military action against Iran), a panderer to special interest groups, those beholden to foreign governments, or any combination of the above. There, I just ruled out almost all of the candidates!

I cringe when I hear some of the reasons why people like certain candidate(s) or potential candidate(s). Not to pick on Fred Thompson (I will anyways), but he wasn’t exactly a ball of fire when he served in Congress (check his Congressional record). After leaving Congress, Thompson lobbied Congress on behalf of several clients that many would deem unsavory and Thompson makes no bones about it (do your homework). He wants to continue military action in Iraq and supports military action against Iran. Some people I speak with think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they can’t articulate a reasonable argument as to why that is so (maybe they think he is for the aforementioned reasons-I don’t). My point is that one should dig a little deeper and not blindly accept assumptions such as he is ‘presidential looking’, ‘talks tough’, ‘means business’ or is a Hollywood actor.

This election should not be about party lines as both parties are failing the American public. Few of us will find a candidate with whom we will agree with more than eighty percent of the time. The candidate we vote for needs to be educated, ethical, experienced, honest, consistent, forthright, and prepared to deal with the many serious issues facing our nation.

If you still haven’t figured out which candidate I will vote for, you haven’t done your homework….:) I will, however, give you a hint….My candidate is kicking everyone’s butts in the online polling;)

P.S. Make sure your voter registration and driver’s license are up to date and that your current home address and personal data are correctly reflected on both. Your vote could be challenged and thrown out if your voter registration information doesn’t match your driver’s license (or the documents you present when you vote). If you are not registered to vote, be wary of organizations offering to register you. Sometimes they are dirty tricks campaigns to make sure you don’t vote (yes, its illegal and it happens). You are safer going to your local voter registration office and registering yourself.

(134) marxbites says:

Ron Paul is the only candidate from either party that is not a CFR/NWO/Fed’l Reserve/Int’l Banking cabal proxy, as all the rest certainly are. Especially Fred Thompson and Hitlery.

In case you didn’t know, and 99.9% do not thanks to the CFR owned media and the academy’s hiding it, much like scum Cheney’s CFR directorship he kept hidden, the CFR is a Rockefeller creation that has been behind every war we’ve been in since WW1. These are the bastards that ran Wilson & FDR for wars of profit, and to gift Palestine to the Rothschilds (Balfour Declaration) for getting America into the war when Wilson had just campaigned he would not. They simply dangled “Ruler of the World” in front of him, along with some blackmail regarding an affair, and he danced to their tune, just as FDR did as well.

The mechanism they rule us with is the unconstitutional Federal Reserve, which is not federal, nor a reserve, but a privately owned, for profit corp that charges Americans interest for using their own money - $2.20 p&i in taxpayer debt for every dollar congress borrows from the shylocks. All assassinated presidents were against the private banks running America’s money for profit, when we’d issued it for free without the private banks.

These bankers were the same ones behind Hamilton & Morris, who would have been fine with an American monarchy.

The Founder’s knew the Bankers already had King Geo III deep in debt for financing his 50yrs of wars; and that it was the very reason for KG3rd’s scramble for more revenue from the Colonies. They NEVER wanted America to come under the Int’l Bankers control via our currency. But the Tory blueblood Bankers and merchants did, had the money to propagandize the Constitution they wrote by and for themselves, which only SIX signers of the Declaration could bring themselves to sign - Jefferson & Hancock refusing to sign.

Writers of the Declaration and the fighters of the war for freedom were the true state’s rights ltd. govt anti-federalist Patriots.

The writers and signers of the Constitution misnamed themselves the Federalists, but were really Nationalists who wanted as much power as they squeeze from the loosely written constitution de Tocqville said would guarantee us tyranny in 200yrs.

It has, and de Tocqville was right on the money.

LSS - vote for Ron Paul, the rest, all of them are just more Slicks & W’s who care not one wit but about themselves and pleasing the master that select, groom and place them in office as agents of the CFR/Fed corrupt shadow govt.

Finally you have a poll with Bill Richardson.
Second, get rid of Thompson, No one should be on the poll that hasn’t announced they are running. I am getting very tired of the media showing on television only the “top Tier” and having polls with only the “Top Tier” and what if Gore, Thompson, Gingrich, etc. addied to them. How is any “lower tier” canidate ever going to have a chance when the media and poll takers only include the “TOP” three of each side, and or maybe include someone who isn’t in the race but you thing should be. Every poll from here on out should include every canadate (maybe split by party) and only canidates who are actually RUNNING.
Third you should only get one vote per poll.

Bill Richardson

CFR = Pro, North American Union, Amero, nafta superhighway and an end to the constitution…

Ron Paul is NOT a member of the cfr.

(148) Lee says:

I’m just amazed at all the support for Ron Paul who I’d dimly heard of. When I looked him up, I could understand why!

I’m still in mourning over Gore’s lost presidency and wish he’d run. I think he’d be absolutely the best candidate. Unfortunately I don’t think he’s going to.

Looking at the current crop of Democrats, I can’t say any of them gets me too enthusiastic, although I’ll be voting for one next November.

I wish someone GREAT was running; but I don’t see anyone that fits that bill.

(149) Mike M. says:

The time has come for change. The American public is sick of being overworked, underpaid, and basically F’d out of any hope for the future. Who out of all these candidates offers a light at the end of a VERY dark tunnel? I’ll let you decide for yourself, because that is your Constitutional Right… but I’m voting for Ron Paul!

August 8, 2007 at 12:13 am
(150) Cheryl says:

I will change my party to vote in the GOP primary for Dr. Ron Paul. He is the only candidate that has integrity, a good voting record and truly supports the constitution. He is the only hope for this country. With any of the other candidates it is politics as usual. The Ron Paul Revolution has begun!!!! He has the support and the experience, the media has to stop ignoring him!!!

August 11, 2007 at 8:06 am
(151) Dustin says:

I’m another of those diligent, passionate Ron Paul supporters. I’m only 20 and not as politically wise as some, but he has very morally acceptable views, he has shown no sign of backing down from his message, and I believe he is the best person for our nation.. Mike Gravel being a close second. Vote Ron Paul. Because the people will lose if it comes down to Fred Thompson vs Hillary.

(154) Randy says:

If you want the continuation of the N.W.O. (new world order) CFR (council on foreign relations) endless war on (fill in the blank) NAFTA and the so called North American Union etc etc etc. Then you should vote for the Republican/Democratic CFR member of your choice, of which include
Rudy Giuliani
John McCain
Mitt Romney
Jim Gilmore
Newt Gingrich
Hillary Clinton
Barack Obama
John Edwards
Joe Biden
Chris Dodd
Bill Richardson

My family and I will be voting for Ron Paul.

Kcarvalho808 says: [Hillary is] pretty much the opposite of Bush.

Opposite??!! She IS Bush, in drag.
Power hungry, evasive, pompous, and zero respect for the Constitution.

Once again, another online poll where Dr. Paul is winning and several amazing posts. Please join your local Ron Paul Meetup online group and get the word out!! He is in a media blackout. Almost 0 news on his win @ the NH Strawpoll, sickening. We will be heard.

(157) Brent says:

Ron Paul believes in the Constitution. What a nut! Ron Paul is not only well versed on the Constitution (The document that this country was founded on, btw) He is an economic genius as well. Just what we need right now. Its is times like these that we need the Constitutional values MOST!!

August 21, 2007 at 10:26 pm
(158) Ray says:

I,m glad to see Dr. R. Paul on your pole. I am voteing for him. After reading some of the comments, I was disapointed in some of the language of the respondants. I guess they never grew up. Oh! well it’s still a free country. If we want to keep it that way we better get Ron Paul in office, as well as other Ron Paul Republicans.

August 21, 2007 at 11:50 pm
(159) Earl says:

I really like Ron Paul. He has a consistant voting record against the Iraq war, but voted to go after the 911 terrorist (bin Laden). He has consistantly voted with the Constitution and for individual liberties, wants to rid the government of interventionist foreign policy, and institute good monetary policy. This includes removing the Federal Reserve which is private and has no congressional oversight. One knows exactly where he stands as he has the most consistant voting record in congress. Many liberals are overlooking him because he is running as a Republican and the Republicans are responsible for many of our problems today. If people would take the time to look at his voting record they would find that for the most important issues he is aligned more with liberals and centralists than neocons.

August 22, 2007 at 10:02 am
(160) Thomas says:

If the American Voter is truly looking for a change in Washington, but wants a President that also has experience, then Ron Paul is the only logical choice. Buy back your liberty with a vote for Ron Paul in 2008!

(163) EKSwitaj says:

Don’t you think it’s time to add Dennis Kucinich to this poll? He led the pack in the ABC News poll about who won the August 19th debate (though ABC tried to obscure this).

Kucinich not only opposed the War in Iraq from the start but also voted against both the initial authorization and subsequent funding bills for it.

September 1, 2007 at 12:13 pm
(164) Gretchen says:

Where is Kucinich? He’s the only choice for thinking, contentious Americans, yet he’s consistently ignored or pushed down by the mainstream.

(165) Aireen says:

Hey! Where is Dennis Kucinich, the Democratic Presidential Candidate with the most compassion, integrity, and political track record to lead this country to prosperity and sanity? PLEASE ADD CONGRESSMAN KUCINICH TO YOUR LIST OF CANDIDATES TO VOTE FOR! ABC has been blatantly blacking Kucinich out from their coverage. About.com should do better! Thank you and peacce.

(166) Bryce Beamish says:

Ron Paul is confused, and so are his supporters. The last thing this country needs is a global warming skeptic who opposes a woman’s right to choose. His radical ideas only highlight his shortcomings. Also, his racist remarks regarding african americans and jews are simply innapropriate and unforgivable.

The ONLY candidate worthy of the 08 nomination is Dennis Kucinich. His politics are common sense and appeal to the good nature in all true patriots. He’s not afraid to talk about important issues in practical terms. He knows how to implement his ideas in a tangible way and his voting record proves it.

Dennis Kucinich ‘08.

(168) Robert S. says:

I’m voting for Dennis Kucinich–so are most of my friends and family. Is there a legitimate reason he isn’t listed here? How difficult would it be to simply add all of the candidates?

Dennis won the AFL-CIO debate and the Human Rights LOGO debate, without question. He also won the ABC Iowa Debate (as far as the online polls suggested BEFORE ABC deleted them and before ABC cropped Dennis’ face out of the main picture).

PLease do your part to save democracy. Include Dennis.

PLEASE include the ONLY candidate for me and other Democratic peace-loving, free-thinkers that don’t need the corporate-run mainstream media to tell us who to vote for, what are we, a bunch of idiots?

DENNIS KUCINICH- the only candidate to vote against the war and has fought against it tooth and nail, the only candidate with a plan, HR 676, Medicare-for-all, to get rid of the criminal insurance companies, the only candidate willing to stand up against this administration by sponsoring HR 333, to impeach Dick Cheney, the only candidate that will do away with NAFTA and the WTO, the only candidate (besides Gravel) that believes in equal rights for gay people, and the only candidate that realizes peace is a much better instrument of policy than war is (PLEASE pay attention to the war/nuke talk coming from Clinton and Obama- why do they think we can spare any more troop lives or that we have a dime to bomb anyone else?)>

Can you even imagine the possibilities of such a President?

I can, and we need to believe that we deserve such a genuine, honest and smart leader!

September 1, 2007 at 7:28 pm
(184) Gary Alderette says:

Darn,I sure get tired of seeing these polls wherein the ? are trying to tell us what choices we are allowed to consider for the presidential candidacy.Even though Kucinich has placed high(and apparently won some) in many polls as to who won a particular debate,I keep finding polls such as this one that seem to feel that they have the wisdom and prescience to decide who is worthy of our consideration.

Please,remedy this “oversight”.

(185) Anna says:

Where is Kucinich. He is the only person worthy of my vote! What does it say about you that Kucinich is not part of this poll? That you are not informed? Get informed, people! Ok, really, not enough said. I’ll add the millionth comment requesting Dennis Kucinich. He is the only candidate that is not beholden to big corporations.

C’mon. Every other candidate, Republican or Democrat, receives huge donations from megacorporations. Do you think they will not be asking a few favors of the candidate that gets elected at the expense of the American people?

This poll is in itself un-democratic. It just makes me want to vote for Dennis Kucinich even more than I already have. In order for this country to SURVIVE the way our founding fathers intended, we would need a man like Kucinich in office, preferably for two terms. How dare you call this an American presidential candidate poll! I call on you to add ALL the candidates fairly to your “poll”. Jacka$$.

September 2, 2007 at 1:10 am
(221) Nancy Scott says:

I th ink Dennis Kucinich is the only candidate who stands for all the morals and values of america. He recognized what President Bush was trying to pull in his war for oil at the very beginning and voted against it. He is an environmentalist and has been all along, not after prople started jumping on the global warming band wagon. He is for health care for all Americans, not just those with good jobs or the wealthy.
He does not favor of all the hate and fear policies of the Republicans.
If the media would start reporting what he says at all the debates and events, instead of prattling on about their media-invented “frontrunners” more people would be solid Kucinich fans.

(223) Blu says:

How Kucinich Wins by David Summerlin Page 1 of 1 page(s) http://www.opednews.com

Democrats of all stripes should admit an unpleasant truth: the Democrats have put some weak candidates on the national stage.

What’s odd is that the party so often puts up a weak candidate in the name of “electability.” What was so “electable” about John Kerry? Turns out not much. His voting record is a bit spotty, but truth be told he had only a few shameful votes. In the end the Republicans attacked his record on military appropriations, and rather than offering unequivocal language he gave us the infamous “I voted for it before I voted against it.” We lost 2004 when we nominated Kerry.

If the party gives Hillary Clinton the nomination, how will she defend her record? Why aren’t “mainstream” Democrats challenging the disconnect between her rhetoric and her service record—now, in the primary season, when we’re supposed to discover our own candidates? Where is this elusive “electability” of the frontrunner candidates? They all fall seriously short on the major issues people care about: Iraq, health care, labor rights, civil rights.

Money silences dissent.

A Rassmussen Report from late July claimed that “[a]lmost 40% of all voters, including 40% of Democrats, don’t know Congressman Kucinich well enough to have an opinion of him.” These same people often dismiss Kucinich as “unelectable,” despite knowing little or nothing about him.

Obviously many voters accept the cynical if accurate notion that money wins elections. Let’s be honest, money indeed wins a lot of elections. Most of them, it turns out. People usually choose their candidates like they’re picking out a pair of shoes they’ve never even worn. This is the reality of our political context.

But here’s where cynical notions of “electability” fall short: the big money candidates of our two-party system can only ever count on the straight-party ticket votes, like mine. My vote and votes just like it on both sides of the isle will only ever ensure that the default results of any general election come in at about 50/50 D and R. That’s what the primary wins for any candidate with the D or R brand: about a 50/50 split unless you do something really stupid (and often if you do). What happens beyond the default position depends entirely on the candidate.

And frequently Democrats put up
