1795: The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill becomes the first state univeristy to open doors to students.

1799: Massachusetts passes the first US law to regulate insurance.

1955: Israel acquires four of the seven Dead Sea scrolls.

1990: The US, England, and France okay German re-unification.
