1981: Argued in Federal District Court, McClean v. Arkansas
In 1968, the Supreme Court ruled that an Arkansas law that prohibited public schools from teaching evolution violated the Establishment Clause ( Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...). In 1981, Arkansas mandated that schools must give creation science "balanced treatment" alongside evolution. U.S. District Judge William R. Overton also found this law unconstitutional.

1984: President Bush pardoned former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and five others in the Iran-Contra scandal.
