2012 Republican National Convention Speakers

The Republican National Convention is being held in late August in Tampa, Fla. Delegates are expected to nominate former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney to run against President Barack Obama in the Nov. 6 election.

Jeb Bush

Jeb Bush is a former governor of Florida and brother of former President George W. Bush. He was rumored to be an alternative to Romney, perhaps a surprise nomination from the floor of the convention. Bush had endorsed Romney earlier in the campaign.

John McCain

The Republican Party's 2008 presidential nominee, U.S. Sen. John McCain, was serving his fifth term as a senator from Arizona when he was tapped to speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention.

Condoleezza Rice

Condoleezza Rice is a former secretary of state who served under President George W. Bush. She was the first African-American female to hold the position. Rice was mentioned earlier in the 2012 campaign as a potential running mate for Romney.

Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is the founder of the U.S. Senate Tea Party Caucus. He is also the son of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, a libertarian and candidate for president in 2012.

Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee served as the 44th governor of Arkansas who unsuccessfully sought the Republican presidential nomination in the 2008 election. He beat out five other candidates in the 2008 Iowa caucuses, including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, but still couldn't secure the nomination. He became a Fox News celebrity and author.

Nikki Haley

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is the first female to serve in that position in her state, and is the youngest sitting governor in the United States. She, too, was mentioned as a possible running mate with Romney.

John Kasich

John Kasich is the governor of Ohio and a former member of Congress who served as chairman of the House Budget Committee.

Mary Fallin

Mary Fallin is the governor of Oklahoma, the first woman elected to that position. She previously served as a member of the House of Representatives from the state. She, too, had been mentioned as a potential vice presidential candidate in the 2012 election.

Susana Martinez is the first female Hispanic governor in the United States and the first female governor of New Mexico. She is a former prosecutor who had been rumored to be a potential running mate for Romney.
