Presidential Approval Ratings
Friday April 8, 2005
The USA Today/Gallup Poll conducted last week gives the President low marks on Social Security, the Terri Schiavo case, the economy and the war in Iraq ... but on the question "Overall job approval" we remain a nation split down the middle. For the first time, they asked Americans about "moral values" and if they thought that the parties were "trying to use the federal government to interfere with the private lives of most Americans." More than half (55%) said that described the Republican party; only 40% attributed it to the Democratic party.
The poll included a question on religious influence that had been asked by another polling organization during the 2004 election:
Do you think the religious right has too much influence, too little influence, or the right amount of influence in the Bush administration?
