Diebold Class Action Suit Filed

Saturday December 17, 2005
Associated Press reports that two lawyers have filed class action suits in Cleveland against Ohio-based Diebold, asserting the firm "made misleading comments about its electronic voting machine business that led to artificially high share prices." Diebold is a major manufacturer of ATMs and security systems; after the 2000 election, it joined the new gold-rush (of government funds) of electronic voting systems. The company CEO resigned suddenly on Monday; a North Carolina judge heard arguments about Diebold's suitability as a state-approved vendor on Wednesday.
