Romney Takes Wyoming
In the Republican presidential nomination delegate race, Mitt Romney is in first place after decisively winning Wyoming, assuming Iowa's delegates are apportioned, not winner-take-all.
Given the lack of attention given the state by political visits, one might argue that money won here. That's all that won, as national media have ignored the contest.
Wyoming Republicans had hoped to get in front of the pack when they set their caucus date for Saturday, 5 January 2008. Alas, what they have gotten is a penalty from the party (delegate numbers cut in half) and an event that is overshadowed by Iowa and New Hampshire. Plus, they've been ignored by the candidates because population-wise, they are such a small state.
Results from the Wyoming Republican Party (now a GoogleDocs spreadsheet):
- Mitt Romney - 8 delegates
- Fred Thompson - 3 delegates
- Duncan Hunter - 1 delegate
Two delegates will be decided at the state convention in May.

I think that is a bunch of crap, I hope Wyoming sues.
Hi, Julie:
Who are they going to sue? The GOP is treating the early states the same, I believe.
I don’t believe the Ds were holding anything over the heads of states who “dis-obeyed” party rules re the date of the first caucus.
