Former Democratic presidential candidate and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama in the presidential contest, according to AP.
Senator Clinton’s camp says it’s no big deal since he’s coming in too late to really make a difference. She’s got a point — the remaining states are not known for their large Hispanic populations, which is where Governor Richardson could have helped Senator Obama the most. Maybe that’s how he could balance his long-term ties to the Clintons with his endorsement of Senator Clinton’s rival.
Governor Richrdson also wasn’t carrying very many delegates, so this is almost a non-story. Now if and when Mr. Edwards casts his endorsement… that’ll be a story.
